YouTube Star Jailed for Violating Sex Offender Law

The same YouTube videos that made 77-year-old Edward Muscare an internet sensation have cost him his freedom.

Prosecutors argued that the convicted sex offender violated his probation by posting (YouTube) videos online. In the mid-80s, Muscare was convicted of molesting a teenaged boy in Orange County.

One of the conditions of his probation required Muscare not to have a computer without permission. When a probation officer spotted one in Muscare's new home in South Carolina, she told him it wasn't supposed to be there. He told her he would submit his computer for inspection without notice. Muscare thought the matter was resolved until he said he became a victim of his own popularity.

Edward Muscare's Pretty Woman lip-sync got more than 700,000 views on YouTube. But unfortunately for Muscare, Florida investigators were watching his posts too. They travelled to South Carolina to arrest Muscare at his new home.

“I didn't do anything wrong, my video wasn't immoral, but I didn't do anything wrong,” he said.

At one point, Muscare was informed he was in violation of probation and he gave a friend his password to posts new videos of Muscare online. That didn't go over well with the judge either.
